The Problem We Address

Maternal and Reproductive Health is a major issue in the Philippines, and is hurting disproportionally the most marginalized families. If you are wondering, why it is important, get a look at the numbers below:

About 2000 expectant Filipino mothers are dying every year due to their pregnancy.

%

40% of Filipina women are still delivering at home, without any formal medical assistance.

The Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) has not been improving for 30 years and is still over 100 per 100,000 live births compared to the Millenium Development Goal target of 28.

NanayCare is dedicated to address this vital issues

“It is absolutely shocking that a country like the Philippines is still lagging such backward in regards of maternal health!”

Maternal health is a simple and well studied field of medicine. Maternal health is all about early detection of symptoms of complication, strict enforcement of established protocols which the Department of Health has published and timely referal. So many lives can be saved by applying these simple principle of public health!

After my thesis in Heidelberg University, I decided to dedicate myself to supplement the existing health system in my home country and founded NanayCare with my friend Lyn Marcelo in 2014.
